Where did September go? It seems like we were just celebrating Labor Day yet October arrives this weekend. That means a great deal of fun fall activities in the cities, towns and villages of the 88^th Assembly District.

Yom Kippur is also this weekend. Yom Kippur – the Day of Atonement – marks the culmination of the 10 Days of Awe, a period of introspection and repentance. I hope that everyone who is observing has an easy fast.

The Concert Across America To End Gun Violence Highlights A Big Musical Weekend In The 88th Assembly District

Dear friends and neighbors,

Fall officially arrived this week and what better way to celebrate the changing of the seasons than with music. There are so many concerts this week in the 88^th Assembly District, from the White Plains Jazz Festival to the Pio Feast and Music Festival in Tuckahoe, that it will be difficult to choose just one.

The biggest musical event, however, will occur in New Rochelle on Sunday when The Concert Across America to End Gun Violence will take place at the Bandshell in Hudson Park at noon. I am sponsoring the concert, along with the City of New Rochelle, as part of a nationwide series of concerts aimed at bringing attention to the unprecedented level of gun violence in this country. Please join us in New Rochelle Sunday afternoon and then head over to Scarsdale, where the music will continue at The Scarsdale Congregational Church.

Join me and take a stand against gun violence. I hope to see you in New Rochelle, Scarsdale and at some of the other concerts this weekend.

• The Interdenominational Pastors Council of New Rochelle will conduct a prayer assembly on the steps of New Rochelle City Hall (515 North Avenue) as part of The National Day of Prayer at noon. In the event of rain, the service will be held across the street at The Holy Lighthouse Church.
• The Eastchester Relay for Life will host “Stick a Fork in Cancer”, an event at 10 different restaurants in Eastchester, Tuckahoe and Bronxville. Each restaurant will donate 10 percent of every bill to the American Cancer Society and Eastchester Relay for Life. The Relay will take place on May 21^st at Concordia College.
