From “Octoberfest” to Revolutionary War re-enactments, this weekend should prove to be entertaining and exciting in the 88th Assembly District. Our cities, towns and villages are hosting a wide variety of events that are sure to appeal to everyone.

  • YoFiFest, the Yonkers Film Festival, will kick off at The New Rochelle Public Library with a double feature, “East of Eden” and “Viva Zapata”, both of which directed by Elia Kazan, who grew up in New Rochelle. The show begins at 1 p.m. There will be films at Sarah Lawrence College (Bronxville) and the Picture House in Pelham on Monday and Tuesday, vivarespectively, though the festival continues in Yonkers through the 23rd.   • The Bronxville Library (Pondfield Road, Bronxville) will present the documentaries “Primary” and “Crisis a Presidential Commitment” along with commentary from 3-5 p.m. The presentation follows President John Kennedy through real-life events, including his primary battle with Hubert Humphrey and his clash with Alabama governor George Wallace.   • The Interdenominational Pastors Council of New Rochelle will conduct a prayer assembly on the steps of New Rochelle City Hall (515 North Avenue) as part of The National Day of Prayer at noon. In the event of rain, the service will be held across the street at The Holy Lighthouse Church.
  • The Eastchester Relay for Life will host “Stick a Fork in Cancer”, an event at 10 different restaurants in Eastchester, Tuckahoe and Bronxville. Each restaurant will donate 10 percent of every bill to the American Cancer Society and Eastchester Relay for Life. The Relay will take place on May 21st at Concordia College.   • The Westchester Jewish Council will hold a County-wide Holocaust Commemoration at noon at the Garden of Remembrance (148 Martine Avenue, White Plains).   • The White Plains Performing Arts Center (11 City Place, White Plains) will present “Once Upon A Pastime”, a baseball player’s light-hearted story of redemption and triumph.
