Kicking Off January In The 88th Assembly District

The first full weekend of the New Year is here so plan on kicking off January in style by enjoying all the wonderful things there are to see and do in the cities, towns and villages of the 88th Assembly District.

THURSDAY

  • The White Plains Library (100 Martine Avenue, White Plains) Short-Story Discussion Series, hosted by librarian Barbara Wenglin, will continue at 2 p.m. The anthology “Love Stories” will be discussed.   • Yoel Magid will host a 2 p.m. program at The Westchester Reform Temple (255 Mamaroneck Road, Scarborrowedsdale) centering on “The Other Israelis”. There will be a film, “Borrowed Identity”, which focuses on an Arab boy who wins a scholarship to a Jewish school in Jerusalem, and a discussion to follow.   • The Hoff-Barthelson Music School (25 School Lane, Scarsdale) will host a pair of programs for music enthusiasts. There will be a “Double Reed Making Workshop” with faculty members proficient on the oboe and bassoon from 3- 5 p.m. Faculty members and recent alumni will also be featured in a roundtable discussion about the college selection process moderated by HBMS Dean Ruth Alperson.
