Enjoying Mother’s Day Weekend

Dear friends and neighbors,

I’d like to wish Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms in the 88^th Assembly District. Enjoy your weekend and take advantage of everything our cities towns and villages have to offer when making your holiday plans.

THURSDAY

• The Interdenominational Pastors Council of New Rochelle will conduct a prayer assembly on the steps of New Rochelle City Hall (515 North Avenue) as part of The National Day of Prayer at noon. In the event of rain, the service will be held across the street at The Holy Lighthouse Church.
• The Eastchester Relay for Life will host “Stick a Fork in Cancer”, an event at 10 different restaurants in Eastchester, Tuckahoe and Bronxville. Each restaurant will donate 10 percent of every bill to the American Cancer Society and Eastchester Relay for Life. The Relay will take place on May 21^st at Concordia College. • The Westchester Jewish Council will hold a County-wide Holocaust Commemoration at noon at the Garden of Remembrance (148 Martine Avenue, White Plains). The keynote will be delivered by Holocaust survivor Stanley Berger followed by a special procession of 25 of Westchester’s rescued Holocaust Torahs. Visit wjcouncil.org for more information.
• The White Plains Performing Arts Center (11 City Place, White Plains) will present “Once Upon A Pastime”, a baseball player’s light-hearted story of redemption and triumph. Show times are Thursday-Saturday at 8 p.m. There is also a 2 p.m. matinee on Saturday. Visit wppac.org for more information.
• The St. Paul’s Church National Historic Site (897 S. Columbus Avenue, Mount Vernon) will host a presentation celebrating the anniversary of VE Day and the end of WWII in Europe at 7 p.m. Visit nps.gov/sapa for more information.
• The Junior League of Central Westchester will host “Big Night Out At The Casino” at 7:30 p.m. at Elmwood Country Club (850 Dobbs Ferry Road, White Plains). There will be dinner, casino tables and a silent auction. Visit jlcentralwestchester.org for more information.
• The Hoff-Barthelson Music School (25 School Lane, Scarsdale) will present pianist Glen Kirchoff in an 8 p.m. performance as part of the school’s Recital Series. Visit hbms.org for more information.
• The JCC of Mid-Westchester (999 Wilmot Road, Scarsdale) will present “Oro Macht Frei – Yom Ha Shoah” a film about the Roman Jewish experience during the Nazi occupation of Rome, at 1:45 p.m. Director Jeffrey Bonna will be available for questions. Visit jccmw.org for more information.
• Students from the SAR Academy will perform “Witness Theater” at the JCC of Mid-Westchester (999 Wilmot Road, Scarsdale) at 7 p.m. The show is an innovative and emotional inter-generational ‘journey’ for Holocaust survivors and students. Visit jccmw.org for more information.
• A fundraiser for the New Rochelle-based Hudson Park Children’s Greenhouse will take place at 6:30 at Dubrovnik

• The Pelham Jewish Center (451 Esplanade, Pelham Manor) will host concentration camp survivor Dr. Moshe Avital as part of Holocaust Remembrance Day observation. • The Pelham Art Center (155 Fifth Avenue, Pelham) will kick off its Spring/Summer Courtyard Exhibition with “Creative Dissent: Arts of the Arab World Uprising and Negin Sharifzadeh: Laments in Gray”. • The Bartow-Pell Mansion Museum (895 Shore Road, Pelham Bay Park) will celebrate National Public Gardens Day with a free, guided tour of its historic landscape and gardens at 3 p.m. Stick around following the garden tour for “First Friday Music and Trolley”. • The 17^th annual Westchester County Slam Dunk Tournament at the Westchester County Center in White Plains kicks off at noon and will continue through Tuesday.
