We’re heading into the last full weekend of April and the weather has finally begun to cooperate making it actually feel like spring. There are so many ways to enjoy what figures to be a spectacular weekend in the 88th Assembly District. Get out and enjoy everything that out cities, towns and villages have to offer.

I’d also like to wish those who are celebrating to have a very happy Passover, which begins this weekend as well.

THURSDAY

  • The Bartow-Pell Mansion Museum (895 Shore Road, Pelham Bay Park) will host a Curator’s Talk at 7:30 p.m. The topic is Fashion and Femininity in Gilded Age America. Claire McRee and Sarah Pickman, curators of Gilded Age Glamour: Fashions from the Bartow- Pell Collection, will lead the discussion. Visit bartowpellmansionmuseum.org for more information.
  • The Pelham Picture House will present a screening of “Racing Extinction”, which draws attention to mankind’s role in a potential loss of at least half of the world’s species, at 7 p.m. The film will be followed by a discussion with Natalie Cash, Executive Producer at Wildlife Conservation Society.   • The Sarah Lawrence College (1 Mead Way, Bronxville) Spring Theatre Season kicks off with a production of “Batboy The Musical”. The show is based on a 1992 issue of the Weekly World News that featured a “batboy” on the cover. It’s a dark musical comedy that tells the story of a half-bat, half-boy who seeks love and acceptance from a backwoods town that must face demons of their own.   • The Bronxville Women’s Club (135 Midland Avenue, Bronxville) will host its annual “Woman of the Year” and “Distinguished Community Service Award” ceremony at 5 p.m. Bronxville resident Dee Sorenson will receive the “Woman of the Year” Award while Eastchester residents Margaret and Anthony Colavita will be honored with the Community Service Award.   • ArtsWestchester (31 Mamaroneck Avenue, White Plains) will host a Fashion Studio Open House from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. in its brand new studio. The program subscribes to The New England Fashion+Design Association’s curriculum and draws on both the deep rich traditions perfected in European Couture Houses and as well from contemporary design techniques. MONDAY

  • The Journal News will be hosting a 7 p.m. debate at the Scarsdale Library (54 Olmstead Road, Scarsdale) titled “Should New York Allow Aid in Dying?” I will participate in the debate, which is the result of legislation that I have authored that would allow terminally ill adults to die with dignity.
