Enjoying A Cooler Weekend In The 88th Assembly District

Dear friends and neighbors,

The scorching hot weather that has blistered Westchester County over the last few days is expected to be gone by the weekend. So, there will be time to get out and enjoy everything that the cities, towns and villages of the 88th Assembly District have to offer.

THURSDAY

  • The New Rochelle Council on the Arts will continue its “Pop-Up Performances” at the New Rochelle Train Station from 5:30-7 p.m. The concerts will run every Thursday through Aug. 25. Visit newrochellearts.org for more information.
  • River of Dreams will perform at noon in Renaissance Park (Mamaroneck Avenue and Main Street, White Plains) as part of the city’s Noon Day Concert series. Visit cityofwhiteplains.com for more information.
  • The Play Group Theatre (One North Broadway, White Plains) will present “All Shook Up”, the story of a young girl and an Elvis Presley type in a scenario right out of Shakespeare’s “A Twelfth Night”, at 7 p.m. Visit playgroup.org for more information.
  • The Bartow-Pell Mansion Museum (895 Shore Road, Pelham Bay Park) will host a closing reception for the Vintage Postcards of Pelham Bay and City Island exhibit from 6-7 p.m. That will be followed by the Sunset Classical Concert Series from 7-8 p.m. Sing We Enchanted will perform “Back To the Future”.   • The Bronxville Summer Street Concert Series will take place on Park Place in Bronxville from 6:30-8:30 p.m. The band Plan B will be performing and there will also be an antique car show. Visit bronxvillechamber.com for more information.
  • The East Coast National Baseball Card Show will take place at the County Center in White Plains from 4-8 p.m. on Thursday, from 11 a.m.-7 p.m. on Friday, on Saturday from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Visit nyshows.org for more information.
  • The City of New Rochelle Parks and Recreation Department will host the 5th annual WFAN Celebrity Softball Game at Flowers City Park at 6 p.m. Visit newrochelleny.com for more information.
  • The New Rochelle Library will host a “Friends Mini Book Sale” beginning at 10 a.m. Visit nrpl.org for more information.
  • The New Rochelle Downtown BID and Residency Unlimited will host “Arts at 5 Anderson” at 3 p.m. at 5 Anderson Street in New Rochelle. This initiative displays the works and hosts shows by local, regional and international artists. Visit newrochelledowntown.com for more information.

FRIDAY

  • The New Rochelle Council on the Arts is sponsoring “Sup? Emerging Bands Take the Stage”, a 7:30 p.m. concert at the Hudson Park Bandshell in New Rochelle. Visit newrochellearts.org for more information.
  • Temple Israel of New Rochelle will host “Shabbat Shabeach” at Five Islands Park (99 Le Fevres Lane, New Rochelle). There will be refreshments served from 6:30-7:30 p.m. followed by a sunset service. Visit tinr.org for more information.
