I hope everyone has a happy and healthy New Year. Enjoy this wonderful weekend in the 88th Assembly District but do so responsibly. If you are going to be drinking, have a designated driver or call a cab. Keep yourself and your neighbors safe this holiday weekend.

  • The White Plains Performing Arts Center (11 City Place, White Plains) will present “Sister Act”, a performance based on the hit Whoopi Goldhanukkah-images-clip-art-2017090818berg movie, at 2 p.m. on Thursday and again on Friday at 7 p.m. Visit wppac.com for more information.
  • The Pelham Arts Center (155 Fifth Avenue, Pelham) will host Chabad of Pelham as it presents “Glow in the Dark: A Chanukah Community Celebration” from 5:30-7:30 p.m. There will be food, music and activities for people of all ages. Visit chabadpelham.com for more information.
  • The Slam Dunk High School Basketball Tournament will conclude at The Westchester County Center in White Plains. The four-day tournament features boys and girls teams from around the tri-state area, including local school White Plains, Iona Prep and Ursuline.   • The Chabad Jewish Center of Bronxville will host “Light Up The Night” with a public menorah lighting in Tuckahoe’s Depot Square at 6 p.m. There will be music, food and the dreidel man will also be on hand. Visit jewishbronxville.com for more information.


  • The Westchester Reformed Temple (255 Mamaroneck Road, Scarsdale) will host its annual Community Outdoor Chanukah Candle Lighting at 5:45 p.m. Visit wrtemple.org for more information.

  • The Eastchester Public Library Film Series will continue with a 1:30 showing of Ben-Hur, the biblical epic about a Jew and a Roman in the time of Christ. This is the 2016 version. Visit eastchesterlibrary.org for more information.


  • The Salmagundi Section of the Bronxville Women’s Club (135 Midland Avenue, Bronxville) will hold a Chinese New Year’s Eve Luncheon at 12:30 p.m. Visit bronxvillewomensclub.com for more information.
  • The Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church (10 Mill Road, New Rochelle) will host New Year’s Eve 2017 beginning at 8 p.m. There will be a sumptuous dinner, drinks, dancing, a children’s buffet and more.
