No Foolin’, April Is Here

Dear friends and neighbors,

April will finally arrive this weekend and hopefully with it will come some warm, spring weather. There are plenty of things to do and see in the 88th Assembly District as a way to celebrate April’s arrival.

THURSDAY

  • The Hitchcock Presbyterian Church (6 Greenacres Avenue, Scarsdale) will host the first of five performances in the 2017 Marguerite Manley Memorial Lenten Organ Recital Series at noon.   • The New Rochelle Library (1 Library Plaza, New Rochelle) will continue its Extraordinary Women Film Series with a 7 p.m. presentation featuring “The Computers, The Coders and the Future Makers”, profiling six women who worked on the world’s first modern computer during a secret WWII project.   • The Scarsdale Parent Teacher Council will hold its annual Sports Swap from 10 a.m.-noon in the Heathcote School (26 Palmer Avenue, Scarsdale) gymnasium.   • Scarsdale Synagogue Temples Tremont and Emanu-El (2 Ogden Road, Scarsdale) will be hosting a Human Rights Seder at 11 a.m. Ann O’Brien, the Director of Community Engagement for Integrated Refugee and Immigrant Services and Merrill Zack, the Senior Director of Community Engagement Programs for the Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society, are scheduled to speak as is Arshad Khan, who will discuss a Muslim-American’s View on human rights.   • The 47th annual Scarsdale 15K and 4M Runs, along with the Abe Simon Memorial Team Race, will take place beginning at 9 a.m. at Scarsdale High School (1057 Post Road, Scarsdale).   • The Pelham High ice hockey team, which won a New York State title, will be honored with a parade on Fifth Avenue in Pelham starting at 11:15 a.m. The parade route runs from the Pelham firehouse to the gazebo. No parking will be allowed on either side of Fifth Avenue between First Street and Lincoln Avenue between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m.
