It’s Already The Middle of July

Dear friends and neighbors,

There will be music, movies and more to enjoy this weekend as we reach the midway point in July in the cities, towns and villages of the 88th Assembly District. Here’s a closer look at some of the events that are taking place. THURSDAY

  • The Westchester Band, under the direction of Alan Hollander, will continue to celebrate its 48th season with a concert in Chase Park (32 Chase Road, Scarsdale) at 8 p.m. Visit westchesterband.org for more information.
  • The White Plains Noon Day Concert Series continues at Renaissance Plaza (Main Street and Mamaroneck Avenue) from noon-2 p.m. Rat Pack-Good Clean Fun will perform this week. Visit cityofwhiteplains.com for more information.

  • The City of White Plains will host Neighborhood Nights at Gardella (Ferris Avenue) and Chatterton (Chatterton Avenue) Parks, respectively.   • The Scarsdale Arts Council, in conjunction with The Acceleration Project, will present “Pearl Necklace”, from 6-9 p.m. at Wilson & Son Jewelers (18 Chase Road, Scarsdale).   • The New Rochelle Jazz Festival will kick off Jolo’s Vegan Restaurant (49 Lawton Street, New Rochelle) from 7-11 p.m. Ras Chemash will perform. Visit facebook.com/NewRochelleJazzFest/ for more information.

  • The Westchester Italian Cultural Center will host Cinema Sotto Le Stelle, a free outdoor movie festival in Tuckahoe’s Depot Square at 8:30 p.m. This week’s film is “Fire at Sea”, the story about life on Lampedusa, an island south of Sicily. Visit wiccny.org for more information.

 FRIDAY

  • The New Rochelle Down to Earth Farmer’s Market will take place at Huguenot Park at the corner of North Avenue and Eastchester Road at 8:30 a.m. and will stay open until 2:30 p.m. There will be produce, baked goods, cheese and more. Visit downtoearthmarkets.com for more information.
  • The Scarsdale Recreation Department will continue its Parties in the Park Program with a 6 p.m. celebration in Davis Park (Lyons Road and Scarsdale Boulevard, Scarsdale). There will be live music, entertainment and more. Visit scarsdale.com for more information.
  • Shaarei Tikvah will host a casual Shabbat Service Under the Stars from 5-8 p.m. at a private home. All are welcome, though. There will be music with a nosh to follow. Call 914-472-2013, ext. 300 for information about service’s location.

  • The 22nd annual Cycle for Sight will take place in Pelham. The 25-mile ride, which will begin at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church (Boston Post Road and Fowler Avenue) at 9:15 a.m., will provide financial support for a medical mission to the Dominican Republic.
