Planned Parenthood Turns 100

This Sunday (Oct. 16) will mark Planned Parenthood’s 100-year anniversary.  Planned Parenthood was founded on the revolutionary idea that women should have the information and care they need to live strong, healthy lives and fulfill their dreams with no ceilings, no limits. This pursuit remains just as relevant today as it was 100 years ago.

Planned Parenthood, once a single brownstone in Brooklyn, has grown to serve New Yorkers statewide and across the country- proudly serving New Yorkers statewide inclusive of all gender identities and sexual orientations. This centennial milestone is an important occasion to pause and acknowledge the instrumental support of our state’s community members and elected officials, who have stood with Planned Parenthood, to help ensure New Yorkers have the rightspp and access to the health care they need.
We hope that BPCLC members will join FPA and our Planned Parenthoods around New York State in commemorating this milestone as we celebrate statewide via social media to show the depth and breadth of our work using the hashtag#100YearsStrong. Before October 16, sign up for the #100YearsStrong Thunderclap (http://p.ppfa.org/100YearsStrong), and you can also change your Twitter profile pictures using our Twibbon (http://p.ppfa.org/pptwibbon100). As a special highlight, reserved for October 16, use the hashtag #100YearsStrong to post your best “power pose” so that together we can demonstrate the deep support for the reproductive health, rights and justice movement across New York State.
October 16 is only the beginning of what is certain to be a special year. We look forward to seeing you at our upcoming Day of Action on January 30, 2017, as we gather together with hundreds of statewide reproductive health advocates committed to achieving equality and equity for all New Yorkers.
Thank you for your steadfast partnership and commitment. We look forward to seeing everyone online on October 16.
Sincerely,
Kim Atkins
