Music, Movies and Much, Much More In The 88th Assembly District

Dear friends and neighbors,

What a wonderful weekend we have ahead of us here in the 88th Assembly District. There is so much to do and see, from music and dancing to lectures and movies. So if you’re planning on heading out and enjoying the expected mild weather this weekend, plan on staying local and taking in all the sights and sounds our cities, towns and villages have to offer.

FRIDAY

  • The Bronxville Women’s Club (135 Midland Avenue, Bronxville) continues its “Coffeehouse” series with performances from musicians Stephen Clair and Miles East beginning at 8 p.m. There will be a special guest performance by Lily Ellinghaus. Visit bronxvillewomensclub.org for more information.
  • The Iowa Energy of the NBA Developmental League will square off against the Westchester Knicks at the County Center in White Plains at 7 p.m. Visit westchesterknicks.com for more information.
  • Speak with Pelham Weekly/Pelham Plus editor Maggie Klein during her Talk With Maggie Sessions in Pelham. Klein will be at Renaissance Bagel (309 Fifth Avenue) at 8:15 a.m.; at JM Café (129 Wolfs Lane) at 9:30; and Bakery at Four Corners (4668 Boston Post Road) at 10:45.   • Jazz pianist Dinah Vero will perform in the main dining room of Alvin & Friends Restaurant (14 Memorial Highway, New Rochelle) from 7-10:30 p.m. Alvin & Friends will also host a Tango Night featuring Junior Cervila and Guadalupe Garcia from 7:30-11:45 p.m. Visit alvinandfriendsrestaurant.com for more information.

  • The New Rochelle Library will host a “Friends Mini Book Sale” from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. The library will also host its latest program “Cook By The Book”, a program that shares thematic recipes, from 2-3 p.m. Visit nrpl.org for more information.
  • The Bartow-Pell Mansion Museum (895 Shore Road, Pelham Bay Park) will host a Winter Succulent Garden Terrarium Workshop from 12-2 p.m. Make a garden under glass and take it home. Visit bartowpellmansionmuseum.org for more information.
  • Songs for Seeds of Scarsdale will put on a concert at The Westchester (Mall) in White Plains at noon. Songs for Seeds was named as the “Best Music Class” by New York Magazine. Visit songsforseeds.com/scarsdale for more information.

 SUNDAY

  • A concert of chamber works by composer William Eckfeld will take place at The White Plains Library from 2-4 p.m. Several chamber groups are scheduled to perform. Visit whiteplainslibrary.org for more information.
  • The Iowa Energy of the NBA Developmental League will square off against the Westchester Knicks at the County Center in White Plains at 1 p.m. to complete a two-game series. Visit westchesterknicks.com for more information.
  • The Bartow-Pell Mansion Museum will host an “Owl Prowl” at 8:30 a.m. Jack Rothman of City Island Birds will lead the search for Great Horned, Saw-whet, Long-eared and Barred Owls, which are often found near the mansion this time of year.   • The New Rochelle Library will show the film “Billy Strayhorn: A Lush Life” in the Ossie Davis Theater at 4 p.m. as part of its Black History Month celebration.
