A Fun-Filled Weekend Ahead

Dear friends and neighbors,

As we move through the heart of the holiday season, remember that there are plenty of ways to celebrate here in the 88th Assembly District. This weekend, in particular, there are a host of concerts, sing-a-longs and shows in our villages, towns and cities that will put a smile on your face and get you in the holiday spirit.

Friday

  • The Concordia College Conservatory at 171 White Plains Road in Bronxville will perform its annual Community Holiday Musical at 7 p.m. There will also be shows Saturday (11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.) and Sunday (1 p.m. and 3:30 p.m.). This year’s show is “Pageant!”, a story about how a traditional Christmas pageant changes and brings the community together.

  • Sarah Lawrence’s Bessie Schonberg Dance Studio in the Performing Arts Center will host a student winter dance contest at 7:30 p.m. Visit sarahlawrence.edu/news-events/events/ for more information.
  • The Elena Rosenberg Trunk Show, hosted by ArtsWestchester, will take place from noon to 5 p.m. at 31 Mamaroneck Avenue in White Plains. Rosenberg is a craft artist and the 2014 Niche Award winner. Visit artswestchester.org for more information.

  • The Eastchester Historical Society will host a Victorian Christmas Party at The Marble School House from 1-4 p.m. Experience Christmas from another era with a display of ornaments, dolls, toys, books and more.   • Historic St. Paul’s Church at 897 S. Columbus Ave. in Mount Vernon will host a holiday music performance at 2 p.m. featuring the harp and French horn. Head over early for a 1 p.m. presentation about the evolution of Christmas as a holiday in America.
  • The Play Group Theater, at 1 North Broadway in White Plains, will put on a performance of “Our Town” by Thornton Wilder at 8 p.m. and again on Sunday at 2 p.m. Visit playgroup.org for more information.
  • WinterFest kicks off in White Plains and will run through Dec. 20. Get all your holiday shopping done at the WinterFest Market, which will be located on Court Street between Martine Avenue and Main Street.   • The Westchester Cadet Squadron 1 of the Civil Air Patrol, which is based in Scarsdale, will dedicate donated Christmas wreaths during a special ceremony at historic St. Paul’s Church at 897 S. Columbus Ave. in Mount Vernon at 11:30 a.m. Similar events will take place simultaneously at more than 700 locations in all 50 states. It is the third consecutive year the WCS1 has dedicated wreaths.   • The Hoff-Barthelson Music School, at 25 School Lane in Scarsdale, will host a mind-body workshop at 2 p.m. The presentation will be led by Dr. Juna Bobby and she will discuss lifestyle medicine for the young student while teaching them how to bounce back from stressful situations.
