I’ll be heading over to New Rochelle City Hall on Saturday morning (10:30) to take part in the ceremony honoring Ray Rice. This wonderful young man won a Super Bowl last month with the Baltimore Ravens. While’s he’s made it big, both at Rutgers and in the NFL, he’s never forgotten where he came from.
Rice makes it back to New Rochelle often and sets a wonderful example for the young men and women in our community. His dedication, work ethic and desire to remain part of our community are admirable, to say the least.
Let’s hope it will be a beautiful day and that we have hundreds of people show up to honor Ray. So many athletes who reach the big time tend to forget their roots. Ray never has and should be commended for it.
